Lyrics

You creep outside in the dawning light
Have a little sniff
Take a sip from a leaf
Little cup of dew

And I pray I’ll see you again
When the winter’s through
It’s already cold outside
I’d give all my warmth to you

But I’m lost just like you
Trying to find my way back to
A safe place to hibernate
I’d rather just hide away with you

You creep back inside your winter hide
Little lair of leaves
I walk away to the same old day
City streets outside

And I pray I’ll see you again
When the winter’s through
I have no home to call my own
I’d rather hide away with you

But I’m lost and it’s true
That this cold, hard world is too
Where we’re going I could never say
I just know it’s the wrong way

Let the light shine through
Let new life grow too

Spring returns from icy lands
Snow drops rise
Baby hedgehog in the light
Mother still close by

And I say a prayer of thanks
To the new-born one
And I know it will be all right
When the day is done

Though we’re lost and it’s true
That it seems there’s no way to
Find our way back home
Save our own, save the baby hedgehog too

Let the light shine through
Let new life grow too
Let new life shine through
